It’s about the code between us

As a User Experience Designer at MichiganLabs, Ryan enjoys being on the front lines—building products that reduce pain points for end-users and maybe even bringing a little joy to their day. As he likes to say, “Reducing UX debt and increasing usability is the name of the game.”

Grant made the move to MichiganLabs for two main reasons. First, because the people you surround yourself with mean everything. Even during his interview, he could see a culture that emphasizes being humble, hungry, and smart. He’s also a big believer in continuous learning. As Grant says, “When the challenges and tools for solving them aren’t static, it no longer feels like work.”

Though she comes from a diverse background—a degree in biology and experience working as a data analyst and concert lighting technician—one consistent thread weaves through Erin’s whole background: her love of planning and organizing anything and everything.

Chris has been in tech working with Apple products since Rhapsody Developer Release 1. He was one of the first people in the state of Michigan to use an iPhone while working for Apple. Finding ways to surprise and delight MichiganLabs' clients is his top priority.

Amanda is a graduate of Grand Valley State University where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Systems. She was most recently in the logistics software industry at BluJay Solutions in Holland as a software developer.

David’s move to MichiganLabs was based on three main factors: our consultancy approach, the teamwork and collaboration that infuses our culture, and the overall energy and outspokenness of our members. Every day, it is a joy being able to solve interesting problems and build something useful, together.

As a software developer at MichiganLabs, Jesse enjoys being part of a growing company that embraces constant learning. For him, it’s a joy coming to work each day, working with talented people and, as he says, “being part of something great.”

John is a creative and a perfectionist. He loves dreaming up ideas on how to make a process more efficient, a design more user friendly, or an app more intuitive. He enjoys keeping up with the latest home automation technology and someday dreams of having Jarvis live inside his home.

As a UX designer at MichiganLabs, Henrick likes being part of a culture that encourages growth, both as a professional and as a person. Every member is committed to giving their best. After being fully embraced right from the start, he could tell he was at a place where people are the greatest asset.

As a delivery lead at MichiganLabs, Jonathan is impressed with the culture that’s been created. For him, it’s a place that prioritizes people and supports their passion for building software capable of making life better for users.

Sarah’s journey into software development was sparked by an after-school program in middle school that introduced her to computer science through drag-and-drop programming. She immediately loved the fact that her creative work led to direct results. Partly inspired by family members in the industry, she continued pursuing this path at Calvin University, earning her bachelor’s degree in Computer Science.

Mei received her master’s degree in computer information systems with honors from Grand Valley State University. She loves to challenge herself and learn new things all the time. She is passionate about building high performance apps to solve problems and with making those apps easy to use.

Jeff loves playing games of the card, board, and video varieties. He enjoys learning about new technology and keeping up to date with the latest smart-phone news. Recently, Jeff has been learning to use Sketch for app and icon design.

Joe is a graduate of Computer Engineering from Grand Valley State University and has been an avid programmer as far back as he can remember. Joe is a proficient programmer in C/C++, Java, and many other languages and is an enthusiast of all things technology. Joe has lived in Michigan in the Grand Rapids area his whole life, but enjoys travelling all around the world.

While earning his degree in computer science at Grand Valley State University, Edric had the opportunity to work closely with his future employer on his Capstone project, an Android-based jokes app designed for kids. He then interned with Meijer where he helped create a pharmacy app before reuniting with MichiganLabs in the familiar role of software developer.

While earning his computer science degree from Kettering University, Aaron held leadership roles in his fraternal organization as well as technical and customer service roles for the local health system. These experiences served to make him a better communicator and problem solver with our software development team here at MichiganLabs.

After receiving a computer science degree from Calvin College, Tyler began his career developing web applications for a local software company. In addition to being a talented musician, he is versed in JavaScript, ReactJS, Go, HTML, CSS, and Python.

MichiganLabs attracted Troy’s attention because of its size and welcoming culture. Coming from large organizations, he was excited to make a bigger impact in a place that rewards collaboration. He was also drawn to the variety of projects and opportunity to partner with Fortune 100 clients.

When Jack first heard about MichiganLabs from a friend, he sensed a natural alignment with the values and culture. It turns out he was right. Since then, he has fit seamlessly into the company, pushing new ideas while collaborating on projects with the promise of making life easier for organizations and their users.

As a staff engineer with MichiganLabs, Scott has the freedom to grow professionally and personally in a fun and safe environment. Each day he can interact and learn alongside a team he truly enjoys working with. As he points out, “Not only do I work with intelligent, driven individuals all working to make products better, but I’ve also built lasting friendships beyond the workplace.”

An experienced UX designer, Audrey is eager to understand how things work—a trait she uses to help clients translate their ideas into cohesive solutions. Choosing MichiganLabs was a natural fit for her. The unique projects and opportunity to continuously grow her career knowledge—paired with the company’s smart and passionate team—combine into the perfect position for her.

Ryan became a software developer at MichiganLabs largely because of the company’s values. Working in an environment that pushes curiosity, he enjoys working with teams to develop well-written software capable of benefiting people.

As marketing lead at MichiganLabs, Nicole creates strategic messages that motivate people to action. While wearing many hats, her greatest passion is sharing success stories with our audiences. As she explains, “There are so many stories to be told and I believe my skills can help more people understand how their lives and businesses can be improved through custom software.”
